01. CUSTOMER
Alva is a utilities (electricty, water, heating) provider based in Finland. Internally, they use a variety of 3rd party solutions to manage customer information and data, and issue invoices. However, they didn’t have a proprietary portal where their users could connect and verify their contract details, consumption metrics, view their bills and pay them, etc.

02. THE NEED
Alva, a utilities provider based in Finland, faced a significant challenge in managing customer interactions and data despite utilizing various third-party solutions for customer information, data management, and invoicing internally.
They lacked a proprietary digital platform where their customers could independently access and manage their service details. This meant customers couldn’t verify contract details, monitor consumption metrics, view, or pay their bills directly through a dedicated portal.
Consequently, Alva sought a solution to build a customer-facing portal to address these needs, alongside a management module for their employees.
03. THE SOLUTION
We developed a comprehensive web application designed to serve as a proprietary portal for Alva’s customers and a management module for their employees. The customer portal allows users to register, verify their contract details, view consumption metrics, access and pay their bills, and more.
A key feature is the “Consumption Reports” section, enabling users to easily manage and monitor their energy usage. This section provides hourly consumption updates, allows users to generate reports, compare current usage to previous periods, and analyze the impact of weather conditions on their consumption.
Customers can also compare their actual consumption against a recommended average for similar properties and set alerts to be notified when approaching consumption thresholds, promoting energy conservation. Furthermore, this section offers tips on reducing consumption and adopting a greener lifestyle.


04. THE RESULTS
The final product is a robust and user-friendly web portal that significantly enhances Alva’s customer interaction and data management capabilities. Customers now have a dedicated platform to manage their utility services, providing self-service options for viewing contract details, monitoring consumption, and managing bills.
The detailed “Consumption Reports” empower users with comprehensive usage data, comparative analysis tools, and proactive alerts to encourage energy saving. The inclusion of tips for greener living further promotes responsible consumption. For Alva employees, the administrative section streamlines the management of customer accounts and application content.
