Microsoft SharePoint is a Web application platform designed by Microsoft that can be used to provide intranet protals, document management and collaboration, social networks, extranets, websites, enterprise search and business intelligence.

Advantages

  • Ease of Use

Disadvantages

  • Cannot be used out-of-the-box to address all business requirements
  • Development using Visual Studio also requires SharePoint Server to be installed on the developer machine
  • Development takes longer due to poor documentation and extensibility limitations
  • Difficult to deploy
  • Form integration not robust
